Not too many award winning authors would fit in at Acton. Dan Waddell has, in all probability, written more books than most in the club can claim to have read. However, since joining the club six years ago Dan has become an absolute rock at Acton – skippering the 2nd XI, scoring bucket load of runs, running colts teams and twice winning the coveted Clubman of the Year Award. On top of that, he is still an absolute class act on the field, with the occasional call-up to the 1st XI providing him scope to demonstrate what a classy and easy on the eye top order batter he is. Whilst Acton’s time in the Middlesex County League represents only a fragment of the club’s history, here is a list of cricketers who have played for Acton who have scored more than 1,000 runs in the Middlesex County Cricket League.
Special mention to Yogi who sits in 21st place in the overall rankings, which go back to 2001, despite only playing in the league since 2007…
